Cycling Brisbane recently ran an annual survey, asking the community to share thoughts and experiences on bike riding in Brisbane. Almost 3000 people took part in the survey.
Congratulations to Jeff Rozen of South Brisbane who was the lucky winner of the Smart Motion Essence Electric Bike! Jeff, who recently returned to Brisbane after living in Shanghai, was thrilled to receive the bike as he does not own a car. To be in the draw for the electric bike, all survey respondents were asked to answer this question: ‘How can Cycling Brisbane improve the city's existing bikeways?’
The winner’s answer was “Develop a range of bike events targeting groups such as the elderly, families, schools, and ethnic communities to increase awareness and acceptance of the city's bikeways.”
In 2018, Cycling Brisbane will launch a new holiday activity program to help kids learn to ride and improve their riding skills plus pop-up events along bikeways will be held to encourage more people to ride locally.
The survey also found the main motivations for riding a bike are that people enjoy it, to stay fit and healthy, to experience good wellbeing and to spend time outdoors.
These results will influence the Cycling Brisbane program into the new year and beyond.
