Safety on Brisbane’s road networks continues to be of critical importance for pedestrians and bike riders as some of our most vulnerable road users. Increasingly our city is choosing a diverse range of delivery choices, resulting in more working bike riders on our roads.
If you ride a bike for work, there are several things you can do to keep yourself safe while on Brisbane’s transport networks.
Cyclists, pedestrian, scooters, mopeds and tractors are not allowed in Brisbane Transurban tunnels, including Airportlink.
Cycling in tunnels is not safe and can cause serious harm to other drivers and yourself.
To help you get to where you need to go safely, remember to plan ahead. If you are using a navigation system, set your transport mode to ‘bicycle’ and obey road signs and rules.
Bicycle Queensland offers an online Bike Basics education series that allows participants to watch videos and complete knowledge checks at their own pace. The series aims to help new or existing riders stay confident and comfortable on their bike.
